Critical Thinking: The Soul of Communication

After reading the excerpt, I found it interesting that the consequences of poor communication and misunderstanding between employees can cost a financial loss of US$37 Billion.

Critical thinking is one of the key factors in effective communication. The ability to think clearly and rationally, understanding the logical connection between ideas between two parties. To have good critical thinking skills is to be able to identify different arguments concerning a particular issue, using them to express with others through effective communication.

In a society, where a large group of the population is educated, not everyone can communicate effectively. I feel that it is important that effective communication is introduced to everyone at an earlier stage in life. For example, during pre-tertiary education, at this point, the individual will require to be able to communicate, be it in national service, tertiary education, or at work, having this skill will prevent the bulk of miscommunications from occurring.

I'm certain that having critical thinking skills will be important in my future career, as it allows me to minimize the majority of the issues faced in some businesses. The consequences that incur from miscommunication can be detrimental to the business, however being equipped with critical thinking skills, allows oneself to shift the conversation in the right direction.
